Emmaus reflection

Notices for 30th April 2017

Thursday April 13th – Upper Room Meal

Join us for a simple meal of soup and bread, celebration of Holy Communion as we tell the story of Jesus’ last supper, and for an invitation to have feet or hands washed as we recall the servanthood of Jesus.

The meal begins at 6:30pm in the chapel at St. Margaret’s. All are welcome.

Friday April 14th – Into the Darkness

We tell the story of Jesus trial and death. We seek to stay in the story although we hear the disciples falling away or even denying they knew him.

We wonder about the frail nature of human beings, and the in-breaking nature of God’s love that calls us into life.

Worship begins at 9:30am. All are welcome.

Saturday April 15th – Time in between

Labyrinth walk and vigil

This is a time to wonder about the space between death and life. It is a call to prayer and quiet reflection.

This is a time for personal reflection and mediation on the Easter Saturday readings, on the things that might be ‘in between’ or confusing in our own lives.

A labyrinth is available for walking, with flowers and stones for responding to things we might celebrate, and things we wish to let go of. Paper, pens, colours and other things are available for personal responses.

Come when you wish, and leave when it seems right.

From 11am until 12:30pm in the foyer, the church and the garden outside at St. Margaret’s. All are welcome.

Easter Sunday April 16th – Dawn service

at Lilydale Lake

Join us at dawn for to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ with the local cluster of Uniting Churches. We share Holy Communion on the beach during this moving time together.

Dress warmly, bring a torch. All are welcome.

Easter Sunday April 16th – Celebration Service

Join us at St. Margaret’s for our Sunday Worship celebration. This service is a joyous reminder of all that Christ does for us and with us. We will celebrate baptism, confirmation and Holy Communion.

Worship begins at 9:30 am. All are welcome.

This coming Sunday, February 26th, St. Margaret’s will hold our Annual General Meeting, immediately after worship.

Dear Friends of St. Margaret’s Uniting Church, Mooroolbark,

A special greeting to you amidst all that this season brings. With so many pressures on us at this time it can be difficult to take a breath and remember why the birth of the Christ was such an important and world changing thing.

This is an invitation to take a breath and remember that Jesus is the heart of Christmas. It is an invitation to join in the story of ‘God with us, Emmanuel’. We celebrate and tell again the amazing story of God’s love breaking into the world.

At St. Margaret’s we have been anticipating the birth of Jesus through the Advent season. We are now ready to celebrate anew this miraculous birth and amazing story of love on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

May you know love, peace, hope and joy this Christmas.
